Beta - How to create a Learning Pathway

Setting up a learning pathway involves two steps. First, you'll need to create the courses you want to include in the pathway.

Once you have created all the courses as Fusion templates, you can then set up the pathway.

Courses

Any Fusion templates can be used in a Learning Pathway. You don't need to publish the template as a course; it just needs to be in the template state to be included in a pathway.

To create the necessary Fusion templates, please follow these steps: Creating a Fusion course – MetaCompliance

A learning pathway can include up to 30 courses.

Smart Path (Optional)

Choosing the Smart Path option adds a further level of personalised learning.

With this option, the Learning Pathway can expand to up to 30 possible pathways.

Once enabled, the system will display the Smart Path creation page:

Example Smart Path:

Question – Cyber Security is critical within our Organisation. Completing following assessment will help identify a course that best relates to your role and learning level, to ensure you can remain cyber secure at work and home. Please select a department that best suits your role to continue.

Answer options:

  • HR
  • Finance
  • Operations

With this information provided directly by the end user, you can make sure the training they receive is not only suited to their learning level, but also relevant to what they chose at the Smart Path stage.

If your pathway uses multiple languages, select ‘Review Translations’ and add the appropriate translations in the chosen languages.

Skip Assessment

With the Smart Path option, you have extra flexibility, allowing users to skip the overall assessment depending on their selection. As the creator, you can choose which users need to complete an assessment, which will then guide them to a course that matches their score, or send them straight to a course that fits their chosen criteria.

Assessment

Learning Pathways are connected to the MyCompliance Question Bank, allowing you to include up to 30 questions covering a wide range of Cyber Security topics. Users will see the assessment when they begin their pathway.

You can add, remove, or rearrange questions as needed. When creating the assessment, questions will appear in your default language, but you can use the language selector to view them in other languages.

Assessment scores will determine which course is assigned to each user. This will be set up in the next step – Bandings.

Learning Pathways - Bandings

Bandings connect assessment scores to the course that the user is expected to complete. If the ‘Smart Path’ option is not enabled, you will have the opportunity to link up to three courses to this Pathway. You can set score ranges to determine which course is linked to each range.

If ‘Smart Path’ is enabled, you can now link Pathways to each Smart Path answer option:

If ‘Smart Path’ is enabled and you have chosen ‘Skip Assessment’ for certain smart path answer options, you can assign a specific course to these users. The score range option will not appear, and only one course can be assigned.

Delivery Methods

  1. Via MyCompliance

Once the pathway is created, please go to the ‘Launch Setup’ section to choose your target users and set the notification preferences.

2. Via External LMS

If you enable “Link to external LMS,” you can export the entire pathway as a SCORM package. Choosing this option will also open the SCORM Settings section, where you can adjust the settings to fit your preferences.
