Top Tips: Getting the most from your Home Page

The Home Page gives you a single, consolidated view of your organisation's compliance picture, refreshed every hour. No more pulling separate reports or hunting across different screens. These tips will help you find your way around, read the numbers correctly, dig into the detail, and act quickly when something needs attention.

Getting Started: Find Your Way Around

1. Start at the top. The two cards at the top of the Home Page give you the headline view:

  • Organisational Risk shows the proportion of your users who currently sit at High, Medium, or Low risk.
  • Upcoming Events shows what content (learning and phishing) is scheduled to go out over the next 90 days.

Check these two cards first each time you log in. They tell you where attention is needed before you look at anything else.

2. Work down to the metrics. Below the top cards you'll find your performance metrics, grouped into three areas:

  • Phishing — how your simulations are performing.
  • Learning — how your training is being completed.
  • Usage Metrics — your licence usage and any data breaches affecting your people.

3. The data refreshes every hour. The Home Page shows an hourly snapshot. If you need the very latest figures sooner, use the Refresh button to pull current data on demand. The data is cached behind the scenes, which is why the Home Page loads quickly for everyone in your organisation

Reading the Date Range Filter Correctly

4. Know your default window. Your performance metrics show the last 90 days by default. Keep this in mind before drawing conclusions — a filtered number is always tied to the period you're looking at.

5. Change the range to suit the question. You can switch the day range to 30, 90, 180, 360 days, or All. Use a shorter range to see recent momentum, and a longer range (or "All") to spot longer-term trends.

6. Remember the range filters on start dates. Campaigns and courses are selected by when they started, not by when your users acted. Anything that started before the range is excluded completely — including reports and interactions that happened inside it. On a 30-day view, for example, a phish reported three days ago won't appear if its campaign started 35 days ago. So if a number looks lower than expected, check the campaign's start date before assuming activity is missing.

7. Know which cards the date range affects. The date range applies to your phishing and learning performance metrics — Reporting Rate, Phish Interaction, and Completion Rate. It does not affect Organisational Risk, Upcoming Events, Non-compliant Users, Users, or Breaches; these always show your current totals, whatever range you choose. Non-compliant Users, for example, is a yes/no status, so a date range can't change it.

Interpreting the Metrics

8. Organisational Risk — only users with a risk score are shown. The chart includes only users who have a risk level. Users with no risk are left out — and "no risk" doesn't mean they're safe; it usually means they haven't been sent any content yet, so a score hasn't been calculated for them. The legend tells you, for each level, how many users are in it and what percentage they represent. An empty chart means none of your users have a risk score yet (for example, if no content has been sent) — not that everyone is risk-free.

9. Phishing Reporting Rate — higher is better. This is the percentage of simulated phishing emails your people actively reported using the MetaCompliance Phish button in Outlook. A rising reporting rate is a good sign that staff are spotting and flagging threats.

10. Phish Interaction — lower is better. This counts users who had a negative interaction with a simulation — clicking a link, scanning a QR code, or filling in a form. These are the people who would have been caught by a real attack, so this is a key group to focus training on.

11. Learning Completion Rate — this is about mandatory courses. This shows the percentage of users who have completed all of the mandatory courses assigned to them. It's a measure of full compliance, not partial progress.

12. Non-compliant Users — watch for key reminders. A user is marked non-compliant if they did not complete their mandatory after receiving a defined number of reminders. This is your list of people who fell behind. Once they complete their course they will not be marked in this metric. Be aware; this metric is not time bound to the filter, and user will be removed from the list when completing their mandatory content.

13. Usage Metrics — keep an eye on both numbers.

  • Users tells you how many of your purchased licences are in use, which helps with planning.
  • Breaches comes from MetaCompliance's Exposure Monitoring and flags accounts that have been caught up in known data breaches.

Drilling Into the Detail

14. Click the card to see who's behind the number. Many cards are clickable and take you straight to the supporting detail, so you can go from a headline figure to the underlying people in one step:

  • Organisational Risk → Users Risk Insights in the Risk Dashboard.
  • Breaches → Exposure Monitoring.

15. Use the risk legend as a shortcut. Each entry in the Organisational Risk legend is clickable and takes you to Users Risk Insights already filtered to that risk level (High, Medium, or Low). Click "High Risk" to jump straight to your highest-priority users.

16. Explore active campaigns and courses individually.

  • Under Active Simulations, each campaign has its own card showing how many users interacted. Click a card to open that campaign's Phish Audit page.
  • Under Active Courses, each course card shows completion progress. Click a card to open that course's Audit page. Courses marked with a tag are mandatory.

Acting on Risk Signals

17. Tackle High Risk users first. When the Organisational Risk card shows users at High risk, click straight into that group and review who they are and why. Early intervention here reduces your overall exposure fastest.

19. Pair low reporting with high interaction. If your Reporting Rate is low and your Phish Interaction is high, that's a strong signal staff need more phishing awareness. Use the Active Simulations cards to see which campaigns people are struggling with.

20. Chase the Non-compliant Users list. Use this report to follow up with people who missed training or completed it late, so you can close the gap before it becomes an audit problem.

21. Respond quickly to breaches. If the Breaches card shows affected accounts, open the Breaches page to see who is impacted and take the appropriate steps to secure those users.

22. Plan ahead with Upcoming Events. Use the next-90-days view, broken down by month, to see what's already scheduled. This helps you avoid overloading users with too much at once and lets you confidently answer questions about what's going out and when.

23. Fill empty space when there's nothing planned. If Upcoming Events shows "No content yet," that's your prompt to act — use the button to create a new simulation or course so your programme doesn't go quiet.

A Note on This Release

24. The Home Page is fixed for now. In this first release you get a carefully chosen, fixed set of cards. You can't yet rearrange or choose your own cards — that customisation is planned for a later phase. For now, focus on getting comfortable with the standard layout and the drill-downs available to you.

25. If risk data looks switched off. If the Organisational Risk card says risk data is disabled, use the "Go to Settings" button to enable risk scoring. Once it's on, the card will start showing your risk breakdown. Be aware this can only be performed if you have both Phishing and Learning modules.

26. If a section asks you to contact your sales manager. If the Phishing or Learning area shows "To enable the feature please contact your sales manager," that feature isn't part of your current plan. Speak to your MetaCompliance contact to enable it.

27. Your old Home Page has been replaced. The new Home Page replaces the previous view which offered limited functionality. The useful information now lives here, alongside much more.
