Power BI Dashboard Integration

Please reach out to your Account Manager to find out how to enable the Power BI Integration.

What is it?

The Power BI integration enables you to connect your MetaCompliance data directly to Microsoft Power BI, allowing you to create custom visualisations, dashboards, and reports. This integration provides access to your Security Awareness Training metrics, phishing simulation results, uncompliant Users and other data points aligned to the modules you have access to within the MyCompliance platform.

Setup and Configuration

⚠️ A cloud-based Power BI licence is required for this integration.

To set up the integration between Metacompliance and Power BI, you will need the following details, which will be provided by your Metacompliance Account and Support team:

  • Power BI template file: MetaComplianceDashboards.pbit
  • Company Key
  • Customer API Endpoint
  • Subscription Key

Installation Steps

  1. Open the Template
    • Download and open the Power BI template file (MetaComplianceDashboards.pbit) in Power BI Desktop.
  2. Enter Your Credentials

    • When prompted, enter your Company Key, API Endpoint, and Subscription Key.

  3. Load Your Data
    • The dashboard will automatically populate with your organisation's data.
    • ⚠️ Note: This may take a few moments depending on your data volume.
  4. Save Your Dashboard
    • Go to File > Save As and save the file as a .pbix for future use.

Using Power BI

Your dashboard will populate with all available data. If you haven't purchased certain modules (e.g. Policy), then that dashboard will be blank and can be removed.

Combining with Other Data Sets

Power BI allows you to combine MetaCompliance data with other data sources. For example, you might merge content completion rates from a separate Learning Management System (LMS) with MetaCompliance data.

To make this connection:

  1. Select Open data model (may appear as Semantic Model).

  2. Click Transform Data

  3. From here, you can access the Fabric API calls used to populate the Power BI dashboard.
  4. Join the data sets based on the shared data (e.g. Username or Email Address).

Data Updates

Power BI data refreshes approximately every 3-4 hours via our Fabric API.  Occasionally, updates may take longer, but the system is designed to keep data regularly updated once the connection is established.

Data Points Explained

The connection to the MetaCompliance data lake via the Fabric API provides access to a wide range of data tables, visible through the Power BI interface.
