'Time Spent' column in Learning Reporting
Time Spent is calculated differently based on which view the end user has chosen to complete the course, e.g. whether they've logged in to the platform or are using Teams, etc., and it is calculated using the logic shown below.
Start Times
- Videos (Intro, Nano, Custom Video, Outro) - when the video starts playing.
- Interactions - when the Interaction view is loaded.
- Custom Interaction
- Content Slide - when the first button is clicked.
- Video Slide - when the video starts playing.
- Hotspot Slide - when the first button is clicked.
- PDF (Policy, Communication, Encouragement) - when the PDF view is loaded.
- Quiz - when the first answer is selected.
End Times - MyCompliance/Direct Access/SCORM Transfer Views
- Each time a Learning Element comes to an end, the End Time is captured.
- When a user clicks on a Learning Element in the menu, the End Time for the most recently viewed Learning Element is captured.
End Times - MyCompliance View
- When a user clicks 'Exit Course', the End Time for the most recently viewed Learning Element is captured.
End Times - Direct Access View
- When a user closes the browser tab, the End Time for the most recently viewed Learning Element is captured.
The Start Time and End Time are used in a calculation for the Time Spent value. Every time the End Time is captured, the Time Spent value is saved in the database, and each new value is added to the existing value.
- If the user switches languages during a course, the audit records are wiped, including the Time Spent, and new records are created for the new language chosen.
- If a user loads a Learning Element that does not capture Start Time by loading the view, e.g. Videos, and they don't interact with that Learning Element, the time spent on that Learning Element is not recorded.
